Skin peels are a fabulous treatment as they really do revive and refresh your complexion. The term ‘peel’ can sound quite daunting if you are unsure of what is involved. Generally, only a few skin peels will actually cause a visible peel or shedding of the skin. The majority of skin peels work progressively with your skin to exfoliate and rejuvenate without causing any unsightly downtime.
In general, the acid in skin peels are derived from natural sources such as sugar cane, willow, milk, apples and fungi.
Absolute Aesthetics have a selected range of skin peels that can be used to improve the appearance of the skin. Treatments will stimulate cell renewal and, depending on the peel applied, can improve the appearance of:
- Acne and acne scarring
- Sun damage and pigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Dull and uneven skin texture / tone
- Excess sebum
- Enlarged pores
Milder skin peels are unlikely to cause significant peeling. They are more likely to cause a mild flaking which will resemble dry skin.
If a deeper skin peel is required, a stronger solution such as Trichloracetic acid (TCA) may be needed. This will penetrate deeper into the skin and cause more visible peeling for a few days or even a week post treatment. This peeling is very safe and will stimulate the deeper structures in the skin to promote collagen growth and treat deeper acne scarring or sun damage.
To optimise the results of the skin peel and to avoid any post peel redness, we would also recommend incorporating a 20 minute Dermalux session immediately after your skin peel treatment.
