Heavy and sagging eyes develop with age and many people are affected by excess skin on or below the eyes which gives them a tired and aged look.
Traditionally, this heavy appearance is improved by a surgical procedure known as Blepharoplasty. However, for patients who wish to avoid surgery, due to either a fear of anaesthetic or post-surgery complications, there is now another option available.
Plexr is a non-surgical procedure performed without cutting or need of stitches. Known as ‘soft surgery’ the procedure is non-invasive and stimulates an instant contraction and tightening of the skin fibres.
How does Plexr work?
The Plexr system uses your own plasma to stimulate an instant contraction and tightening of skin fibres. It does this by creating a matrix of dots which change the superficial skin cells from a solid into a gas (a process known as sublimation). This process happens without causing any bleeding or damage to the deeper layers of the skin or the surrounding tissue.
A topical numbing cream is applied 30 minutes prior to the procedure which itself takes around 20 minutes to perform.
The procedure is described as ‘dynamic’ because it gives the unique opportunity for the practitioner to communicate with the patient, asking them to open and close their eyes during the procedure. This allows for a clear view of the skin’s folds that may still need to be treated, allowing for optimum results to be achieved.
What happens after the procedure?
Immediately after the procedure the treated area will be quite red and mildly swollen and this can sometimes last for up the 3 days. At the site of each dot, a carbon crust will form. These crusts are to be left to come away on their own which usually takes between 5 to 14 days.
How quickly can results be seen?
Most people see noticeable results after the first treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 2-4 weeks. Patients may require more than one treatment and this is subject to personal expectation and practitioner opinion.
How long will results last?
Results will typically last for the same amount of time as traditional blepharoplasty surgery but is subject to the number of treatments, your lifestyle and ageing process. You will age as you would otherwise and your skin will continue to relax as part of the ageing process.
How much does Plexr cost?
The price of an upper or lower blepharoplasty treatment plan is £1,100.
Both upper and lower together is £1,700.
Finance options are available and can be discussed at your consultation.
